As stated in the teaching syllabus for basic public courses in secondary vocational schools,the tasks of the English curriculum are: to enable students to master certain basic knowledge and skills of English,to develop students' English application ability in daily life and career situations,to improve students' cultural literacy,etc.These will lay the foundation for students' professional career,continuous learning and lifelong development.However,the traditional English teaching model is the teachers' one-way teaching,the classroom atmosphere is not good,students lack an environment for practice and application,they're weak in the application of English such as oral presentation and writing capacity,and their professional qualities need to be developed and improved.Cooperative learning is a creative and effective teaching model adopted by many countries in the world,it highlights the main position of students.Under the guidance of the teachers,students achieve the goal of the task through experience,participation,group cooperation and inquiry,etc.This study is based on relevant theories of cooperative learning theories,methods and elements,and it is guided by the teaching curriculum for basic public courses in secondary vocational schools,it is applied in the vocational school English teaching.Taking the two classes of the first grade of accounting major taught by the author as experimental subjects,they are divided into an experimental class and a reference class.The experimental class uses cooperative learning teaching model and the traditional teaching methods are adopted in the reference class.Taking "one semester" as the experimental cycle,the experimental design and experimental preparation for cooperative learning were carried out,and the experimental implementation was carried out in the specific way of "Learning Together Method" for cooperative learning,and the results were analyzed.During the analysis,the author has used the method of questionnaire survey,experiment and English proficiency test.That is,at the beginning of the semester,the students of the experimental class were asked to conduct cooperative learning questionnaires and conduct cooperative learning experiments in teaching.The pre-test and post-test of the written test and oral test were conducted respectively,and the data analyses of the results of the two tests were finally carried out.The cooperative learning teaching process in this applied research is as follows: Step 1,Student preparation;Step 2,Teacher introduction,create a problem situation,put forward questions;Step 3,Group study,determine group tasks,cooperate and explore,and actively rely on each other;Step 4,Presentation of results;Step 5,Cooperative evaluation and class testing.The research results show that cooperative learning has improved the atmosphere of classroom teaching and students' English application ability,and it enables them to develop and enhance their professional qualities such as learning attitude,communication and coordination ability,and expression ability in experimental class.At the same time,it can also improve teachers' English teaching level and teaching quality,and achieve the goal of vocational school English teaching.However,due to the limited teaching level of teachers,the large number of students in a class,there are still some problems that need to be discussed and solved in the application of cooperative learning teaching.
