The Study About The Definition On The Four-Character Idioms Of The XinHuaYuDian

Analyzing the definition method of four-character idioms,this paper takes the definition of four-character idioms in the Wen Duanzheng’s XinHuaYuDian as the object,as well as examines and explains the idioms from the aspects of the collection of objects to be interpreted,the quantities of sense,as well as the form and content of definition,in an attempt to provide some references for the definition of this object.The full text includes six chapters: The first part is the introduction.It mainly shows the background of the research,including the general study of idioms,the study of Chinese dictionary’s definitions and the general picture of the idioms’ definition,introducing the topic basis of the paper,the value of the research,and explaining the theoretical guidance of the research.The second chapter is about the objects to be interpreted and senses.The primary and secondary entries’ characteristics and the senses of four-character idioms are classified and discussed,the idioms relating to the relationship between primary and secondary entries are also discussed from the aspects of forms and meanings.These idioms are divided into single-layer type and double-layer type according to the meaning relations,and the senses also analyzed concretely.The third chapter is the form of sense about four-character idioms in the dictionary,explaining the definitions’ prompts and interpretation’s mode.The fourth chapter is the definition’s content of four-character idioms in it.In this part,the methods of idioms are explored from there aspects of objects to be interpreted meaning,auxiliary definition and examples.The fifth chapter is the cognitive metaphor and the idioms’ definition.The metaphor of four-character idioms are analyzed from the perspective of cognitive linguistics,specifically expounding the revelation of metaphor for the definition of idioms.The sixth chapter is the preliminary conclusion.It is the summary of the thesis,which puts forward the preliminary thinking on the systematicness of definition.The material of definition in the closed domain has been analyzed in detail by using the three traditional research methods of qualitative and quantitative statistics,comparison and analysis.The preliminary conclusion is that the definition of idioms should focus on the context in which they are used and the integrity of the target.
