Taking Firebird Suite written by the distinguished composer Stravinsky of the 20th century as the study object,this paper,based on the era background of its composition,analyzes and combs through the entire work from micro and macro perspectives with fives aspects as entry points including use of instruments,comparison and change of timbre,texture,content and technique of expression and the whole orchestration arrangement of the work.This paper consists of four chapters.Chapter one introduces the composer and the era background of his composition including the social realities,development status of art before and after his composition and some actualities of the composer during his Firebird Suite composition period.Chapter two discusses the orchestral writing feature of Firebird Suite.In this chapter,discussion and summary are made where there is something characteristic with use of instruments,comparison and change of timbre,texture as entry points.Chapter three discusses the correspondence between content of expression and technique of expression in the pieces of Firebird Suite.This chapter is divided into three sections,section one and two provide a theoretical basis for section three while section three gives concrete expression to the content of other two chapters in Firebird Suite.Chapter four studies the logic of orchestration in separate pieces of Firebird Suite on an overall and macro level.
