Stylistic Features Recreation Of Experiemental Novel:A Case Study Of French Concession By Xiao Bai

Xiao Bai,a famous writer in Shanghai literary circle,won Lu Xun Literature Prize for his middle-length novella Blockade in 2018.This paper aims to discuss his novel,French Concession published by HarperCollins with a high price of English copyright,which later was selected by Shanghai Translation Grant to publicize abroad.Yet,there were different voices at home for its multiple narrative points of view and translationese,and many Chinese readers therefore gave negative feedback.In light of this,this paper starts with stylistic features of experimental novels,analyzes and compares Chinese and English version regarding multiple narrative points of view,stylistic features and “East Meets West”—Haipai culture,and tries to figure out translation tendency of the translator.This paper discovers that the translator changes multiple narrative points of view and translationese presented in the Chinese version,in order to reduce language and content conflicts and make it more reader-oriented,and that the translator remains intuition narrative language and Haipai culture,aiming to highlight plots and foreignness.This paper is conducted within the framework of stylistic features of experimental novel,analyzing the stylistic features of Zujie and its English version French Concession,attempts to enrich research of experimental novel of its English version as well as research of Chinese experimental novel and its English version.
