In January 2018,President Xi Jinping of the 19 th CPC national congress proposed "give priority to education".At the same time,the party central committee and the state council also formulated the opinions on comprehensively deepening the reform of the construction of teachers,which all indicate that the professional development of teachers is of vital importance.However,teachers in professional development will appear different types and different levels of demand,which will have a far-reaching influence on teachers' professional development.The author has consulted some books and found that there are not many researches on the professional development needs of English teachers in rural primary schools in China.The author investigated the professional development needs of English teachers in rural primary schools in Shouxian,Huainan,Anhui.As a English teacher in Shouxian rural primary school,the author regards the professional development needs of English teachers as the key point.Through the data analysis,the study obtains two problems:(1)What is the general situation of English teachers from rural primary schools in Shouxian,Huainan?(2)What are the urgent needs for the professional development of English teachers in Shouxian,Huainan? The results show that:(1)Rural primary school English teachers in Shouxian have an urgent needs for teachers professional development.(2)There are significant differences in the professional ability and the needs of external support for English teachers at each stage in Shouxian rural primary school.From the perspective of professional ability,it is more urgent to meet the needs of teachers in adaptation period,growth period and supply update period.They need more ability to define teaching objectives and design teaching methods.From the perspective of external support,teachers in adaptive,growth and supply renewal periods need more the guidance of seniors and famous teachers,especially can realize the online training of teachers in the class or on the Internet.Based on the above researches,this study proposes relevant improvement plans from three aspects: board of education,school and individual teachers.
