Professor Gardner of Harvard University has proposed that humans have at least eight kinds of intelligence: speech-language intelligence,mathematical-logical intelligence,visual space intelligence,musical rhythm intelligence,physical exercise intelligence,natural observer intelligence,interpersonal intelligence and introspective intelligence.It provides theoretical basis and enlightenment for the reform of education and teaching in many fields,and has achieved a lot in guiding the teaching of various disciplines.Based on the Multiple Intelligences Theory,this paper is to combine the qualitative research with the quantitative research,mainly qualitative research to explore an effective junior middle school oral English teaching mode.It will focus on the following three questions:1.If oral English classes under the guidance of the Multiple Intelligences Theory can effectively improve students' interest and confidence in learning oral English?2.If oral English classes under the guidance of the Multiple Intelligences Theory can effectively improve students' oral English performance?3.If oral English classes under the guidance of the Multiple Intelligences Theory can effectively improve students' comprehensive quality?First of all,the author explores the enlightenment of the Multiple Intelligences Theory on middle school English classroom teaching and its embodiment in the ordinary oral English teaching method.Then,in practice,after comparing and analyzing the research data before,during and after the experiment through the experimental research in the class teaching process,the author will elaborate and analyze the characteristics and advantages of the oral English classroom teaching guided by the Multiple Intelligences Theory.The author selected Class 4 and Class 6of the 7th grade in J Junior High School in H City as the research object,Class 4 the experimental group and Class 6 the controlled group.And the traditional oral Englishteaching mode is used in the controlled class,while multi-modal spoken English class based on the Multiple Intelligences Theory is used in the experimental class.During the experimental period,the same teacher used the same teaching material in the two classes.The experiment was conducted from September 2018 to December 2018,during which the author designed multi-modal oral English class by combining education and teaching methods guided by the Theory of Multiple Intelligence with oral English teaching.Through classroom observation,interviews,tests,questionnaires and other methods,the author tries to find out the changes of students' oral English learning interest,oral English proficiency and comprehensive quality.The research results show that the oral English classroom teaching under the guidance of the Multiple Intelligences Theory can effectively improve students' oral English and English learning interest,and at the same time improve students' social skills,logical reasoning ability,reaction ability and natural observation ability.
