At present,People’ s life and work are being deeply affected by the rapid development of information technology,so does the field of education.In addition to traditional classroom learning,new learning methods such as mobile learning and online learning have gradually become students’ learning methods.In term of learning mode,what students want is not a single classroom teaching mode,but a combination of new teaching modes.In traditional classroom learning,students may show low interest and low enthusiasm,with unsatisfactory effect in classroom teaching.Therefore,the reform of English teaching should be carried out as soon as possible.Under the situation,the author has studied the theory of blended learning and teaching at home and abroad,and designed a blended teaching model suitable for junior high school students based on the specific conditions and characteristics of the author’s students,and has applied it in the author’ s classroom teaching,aiming at exploring the practical effects of applying the blended teaching to oral English teaching in junior high schools.It is hoped that this experiment can help students develop the habit of learning oral English independently,stimulate interest in oral English learning,and improve their verbal skills.This paper takes the current situation of oral English teaching in junior high schools as a starting point,aiming at improving the effects of oral English teaching in rural junior high schools.A 12-week teaching experiment was carried out,with two classes in Grade 8 in Sanyuan Middle School as experimental classes,and English APP and QQ group as teaching media.The textbook used is Project English,Volume 1 for Grade 8.Through teaching experiment,3 questions are to be answered:(1)How to use blended teaching mode to cultivate junior high school students’ expression ability of spoken English?(2)What are the effects of using a blended teaching model to teach oral English in junior high schools?(3)What are those existing problems of the blended teaching by the questionnaire? What are the countermeasures?The design of teaching is based on the Constructivism Learning Theory,the Theory of Mastery Learning,and the principles of teaching spoken English proposed by Wang Qiang.According to the characteristics of blended teaching,the Spoken English class is designed into three parts: pre-class(online),in-class(offline),and after-class(on-line +off-line).The teaching was carried out by assigning students pre-class preview tasks,in-class inspection of pre-study task and classroom interaction tasks,and after-class consolidation tasks;Further,the effectiveness of the teaching design is analyzed through the questionnaires and the interview data.The author has carried out two questionnaires at the early and late stage of the experiment.After the experiment,6 students are interviewed,and the questionnaire and interview data are analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the blended teaching.The analysis result shows that by the blended Oral English teaching,students’ autonomy and self-confidence have been improved,and students are more actively participating in the oral English activities.The teaching effects of blended teaching are better than those of the traditional teaching mode.In a word,the application of blended teaching in the Oral English class of junior high school has been recognized by most students,and is feasible and effective.However,there are still some problems.On the one hand,some students are unable to complete the learning tasks due to weak base,and some students rely too much on teachers’ supervision,and failed to complete the tasks in the pre-class and post-class stage because of poor autonomy;On the other hand,when implementing the teaching experiment,teachers may have difficulties in attracting students to speak because lesson preparation process is cumbersome and some contents of textbooks are not so interesting;both teachers and students are lack of knowledge of information technology.Based on the above problems,this paper puts forward the following suggestions:(1)to change students’ thinking,stimulating their learning interest,and cultivating self-discipline;(2)teachers should improve their knowledge of information technology,and choose interesting,valuable,and true-to-life topics for their students.
