After the Anti-Japanese War ended,Hollywood films that " made a comeback" quickly occupied the Shanghai film market, putting great pressure on the Chinese film industry, which was in a state of disuse. In the face of Hollywood's strong offensive,Chinese movies, instead of collapsing, had gradually established themselves in the Shanghai market and found a way to deal with it.From August 1945 to May 1949,Hollywood movies experienced dramatic changes in Shanghai, while domestic movies gradually found their own business methods and gradually developed. The pattern of competition between Chinese and American movies in Shanghai is also undergoing subtle changes. In view of this, this paper attempts to explore the China and US relations in the early research of film history by comparing the competition patterns of Hollywood films and domestic films in Shanghai market. The full text is divided into five parts:The first chapter provides a more macro reference coordinate for Chinese and US film relations by introducing Hollywood's internal situation after World War II,the international market and the countermeasures of various countries in the world; The second chapter analyzes how the post-war China's political and economic environment affects the changes in the film relationship between the two countries from the perspective of the operating environment of Chinese and US films in the Shanghai market. The third chapter focuses on the specific distribution and screening process, comparing the distribution and screening of Chinese and American films in Shanghai, and discussing the changes in the film relationship between the two countries by taking the two " stop supply" incidents of American films as a case study. The fourth chapter mainly studies the income situation of China and the United States in Shanghai market, and analyzes and discusses it through specific data. The fifth chapter discusses the influence of ideology and cultural acceptance on Chinese and US film relations from the two channels of official censorship and non-governmental acceptance. This thesis regards the post-war Shanghai film market as an open discourse system, not only focusing on Chinese films, but also introducing Hollywood films as comparative objects. From a more international perspective, this paper examines the competition of Chinese and US films in the Shanghai market after the World War II from the perspectives of market environment, distribution and screening, profits and acceptance of censorship. From the perspective of market research,it is not only an important dimension of the current research on the history of Chinese movies, but also an important cut to promote the exchange and cooperation between China and the United States. No matter 70 years ago or 70 years later, this has the same important reference value and practical significance for the Chinese and US film relations.
