Curriculum standards for compulsory education(2017)emphasizes the importance of the practicality and applicability of language learning in the learning process,and advocates that students should contact,experience and understand the real language in the context.Learn and use the language on this basis,and create as many opportunities for students to use the language in the real environment.However,Whether the new curriculum requirements can be effectively promoted in rural areas and how their practical effects are still to be discussed.In this paper,a quantitative and qualitative research method was adopted to study 40 junior middle school English teachers and 240 junior middle school students in three rural middle schools in Jian san jiang area.Investigation and research revolve around three issues.1.What are the common forms of situational teaching in rural junior middle school English teaching?2.Which types of courses are more suitable for English teaching in rural junior middle schools?3.What is the effect of situational teaching method applied to English teaching in rural junior middle schools? The main causes of the existing problems are analyzed.There are four main findings in this survey.First of all,the current situation teaching method in rural junior middle school English teaching is relatively single,mainly by means of multi-media reappearance and game performance scenarios.Secondly,teachers and students have inconsistent views on the application of situational teaching methods in different types of English classes in rural junior middle schools.Firstly,most teachers tend to create situations when introducing new lessons;secondly,teachers tend to use situational teaching method in reading and listening and speaking classes,while students tend to use situational teaching method in listening and speaking classes;thirdly,teachers tend to use multimedia situational creation and game performance situational creation method in listening and speaking classes and reading classes,while they prefer to use situational teaching method in writing classes.Students have similar views on the creation of scenarios,multimedia scenarios and life scenarios in applied languages.Thirdly,teachers and students have similar views on the application effect of situational teaching method in English teaching in rural junior middle schools.Most students are interested in it.However,students' participation,knowledge mastery and achievement improvement are not as interested as students.Finally,the author analyzed the main causes of the inadequacies of the survey,including the relatively monotonous form of scenario creation,less attention to factors,the neglect of students' principal position,the lack of some teachers' technology and theory,and put forward five suggestions combined with the local actual situation.The author hopes that this survey will contribute a little to the improvement and development of situational teaching method in English teaching in rural junior middle schools.
