As one of the representatives of the sixth generation of directors in mainland China,jia zhangke has won wide attention from the film circle at home and abroad with his documentary style.His films take the change of times as the background to show the individual destiny and social position of the little people under the tide of The Times.His films are gradually accepted and recognized by more and more audiences from the documentary shooting to the integration of story elements.Jia zhangke's films often reflect the loneliness,confusion,anxiety and other aspects of human life through the social situation of marginal characters.Among the numerous research works and researchers,most of the articles on jia zhangke's film studies focus on his documentary aesthetic style,the image of marginal figures in the film,the narrative style in the film and the theme of the film itself.In general,the research data are also based on the level of traditional film research.However,with the improvement of jia zhangke's influence both at home and abroad,new research categories have gradually emerged in the academic circle,such as the study of realistic style in jia zhangke's films,the study of homesickness in jia zhangke's films,and the study of the audio-visual characteristics of jia zhangke's films.However,there is still a lack of research materials on the interpretation and research of jia zhangke's symbols in his films.Therefore,the author integrates the relevant theories of film semiotics into the research process of jia zhangke's films in an attempt to open a new perspective for the study of jia zhangke's films.The first chapter in this paper is Introduction,which describes the purpose,significance,current research situation and innovation of this topic.The second chapter mainly describes the theoretical sources of Film Semiotics and the interpretation of Jia Zhangke's film.In addition,the development of film semiotics is further combed in this chapter and the characteristics of Director Jia Zhangke's growth and creative stage are emphatically analyzed.The third chapter mainly researches on the image symbols in Jia Zhangke's films and they are analyzed in the context of character image symbols,physical image symbols and unrealistic image symbols,focusing on the creation trend and metaphorical significance of unrealistic image symbols in the works directed by JiaZhangke.The fourth chapter mainly researches on the auditory symbols in Jia Zhangke's films,which takes music symbols,sound symbols and human voice symbols as the analysis points and analyzes the symbolization performance in Jia Zhangke's film with the media uniqueness of sound symbols and the authenticity of dialectsto.The fifth chapter mainly introduces the establishment of the symbols and the dissemination of brand symbols in Jia Zhangke's film,which is based on the personal brand or semiotics formed by Director Jia Zhangke himself,launches the dissemination of Jia Zhangke's personal influence around the world and undertakes the analysis.This thesis introduces Jia Zhangke's films based on the relevant theories of film semiotics,and completes a deep study of his works on the basis of intaking uniqueness in his film.
