The power of cultural confidence and communication should not be underestimated in shaping the image of the great country.In view of this,it is critical to enhance the soft power of the country.As the messengers of cultural communication,translators must bear the burden of spreading Chinese culture overseas.The translation of publicity materials is an important means of cultural publicity.This research on strategies and methods of the translation of publicity materials will provide convenience for better cultural communication.The captions for museum are a kind of publicity materials.From the perspective of intercultural communication,this report studies the translation of publicity materials based on the translation of Yushan museum captions.There are numerous elements involved in the process of cultural communication.The translator plays a certain role in the three basic elements,namely,the communication subject,the communication object and the communication receptor.The triple identity of the translator includes the communication receptor of the source texts,the communication subject of the target texts and the respondents of communication effect.In addition,the translator undertakes multiple tasks as follows,to retain the cultural connotation of the source language,take into account China's political position and attitude,as well as the level of knowledge and acceptance of the target language readers.These tasks undoubtedly increase the difficulty of the translation practice.Aiming at these translation problems,the translator combines translation theories of intercultural communication for analysis and discussion,and finally draws a conclusion.Although there are still some shortcomings,the author hopes to provide some reference for scholars who later studying these problems and contribute to the translation research on the translation for publicity materials.
