Translation is not a simple conversion of language symbols,but the overall reconstruction of textual coherence.The traditional principles of translation only emphasize that whether the target text and the original text is equivalent in words,phases,and sentences.Though faithful enough,such a translation text has many potential problems,including poor information transmission,logical failure,and inconsistency with the original context.This article is centered on the textual coherence of Chinese-English translation based on the publicity materials of Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum.First,it discusses about the features of the museum's publicity materials.Then,it analyses the subjective and objective reasons and the performance of the lack of textual coherence in the primary version of translation.Finally,it proposes corresponding solutions including using cohesive means,rationalizing logical relationships,and analyzing the original context.By doing so,this article hopes to provide some ideas and references for other similar translations to produce more coherent and smooth texts that meet target readers' reading habits.
