Product Manual Translation Report (E-C)

This introspective report is based on the English-Chinese translation of a 10000-word excerpt from The Machine Operation and Maintenance Manual of airplane 250–C30 generator.It was issued by Rolls-Royce,the source text was commissioned by Top Consulting Co.,Ltd.The purpose of this report is to discuss the problems and difficulties encountered during the translation process and the solutions that may help produce an adequate and readable technical text.This report is divided into four sections.It will first describe the translation project.It will then go on to discuss the pre-translation process,including Peter Newmark’s text typology in translation and text analysis.The third section discusses the translation process,including the translation strategies and methods applied in the translation process and post-translation quality control.Finally,this report concludes with a brief summary of what has been learnt during completion of the translation project.
