A Practice Report On The Chinese Translation Of ON-SITE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL FOR GENERAL ELECTRIC LM6000~? PF SERIES GAS TURBINES

The E-C translation of ON-SITE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL FOR GENERAL ELECTRIC LM6000? PF SERIES GAS TURBINES is discussed in this practice report with application of the text-type theory and Skopos theory.This report first introduces the source,background and significance of the thesis as well as relevant pre-translation analysis and preparations,including the brief introduction of theories,analysis of the original text,selection of tools,and preparation of parallel texts.Then,the report focuses on the analysis of cases and exploration of corresponding translation strategies from three perspectives of vocabulary,syntax and discourse based on the text-type theory and Skopos theory,in an effort to provide experience that can be referred to.Wherein the lexical part mainly discusses how to translate specialized terminologies and common vocabulary with the meaning of science and technology,that is,to position and verify terminologies and give common words scientific meanings.At the syntactic level,the translation strategies of postpositive attributive sentences and passive sentences are discussed,that is,to place the postpositive attributive in front of the nouns and convert the passive sentences into active ones.At the discourse level,the strategy of improving the logic of the discourse through logic analysis is discussed,that is,to restore or omit the pronouns.This report is concluded with the summarization of some problems and insufficiencies in this translation practice.
