The Translation Of Cohesive Devices And Coherence In The Text Of Argumentation

This translation practice report is translated and analyzed based on the fifth and sixth chapters of the book Tourism and Innovation.The source language text contains a large amount of argumentative language and some theories such as public policy to analyze the tourism industry from a new perspective.The original text is argumentative academic discourse,which has the characteristics of formality,clear logic,technicality and rational argumentation.The language in the source text shows strong coherence in terms of grammatical structure and semantic meaning.Therefore,how to reproduce the coherence of source text in target language text is a challenge to meet for translators.In order to reproduce the writing intention of the original author and realize the communicative function of the resource text,the author of this report will try the best to comprehend and translate the cohesive devices used in the source language text in order to maintain coherence in target language text,which make the target language reader understand easily.In the light of the relevant coherence theory,the author explores how to maximize the coherence effect of the source language text in the translation from three aspects:grammatical coherence,semantic coherence and pragmatic coherence.Starting from different angles.,the author also summarizes the corresponding translation strategies and methods combined with cases,and transforms the cohesive and stylistic features of the source language discourse to achieve the best coherence effect.The author has had a further understanding of the translation of argumentation text,and hopes to provide some useful suggestions for the translation of relevant text types.
