In 1960 s,Minimalism,as a significant genre of art,was concerned by lots of artists and critics,whose core idea is “Less is more”,namely,abandoning unnecessary decorations,leaving no trace of emotion and intuitive judgement,and reserving the essence of object,Changing minds of people from all perspectives of social lifestyle,market economy evokes the urgent demand of efficient and exact design style,thus the style of simplicity becomes more and more popular.Posters of Minimalism can convey the thought connotations of designer in a more concise and explicit way.Designs of Minimalism are characterized by the simplification of colors,inclination of mass blank,strong impact of color match and the frequent manipulation of simple geometric figures.Although Minimalism is widely used by plenty of international famous brands,it has not been widely studied in China.According to the development of contemporary graphic design,the changing trend of design is closely related to the development of society.For now,the most popularized areas of Minimalism graphic design are Germany,Japan and some countries in Northern Europe.These countries are different in national conditions and culture,but happen to have the same view in the manifestation of Minimalism.This thesis introduces the concept,connotation,development history and current situation of Minimalism,sketching the design principles of Minimalism and its inner relationship with other artistic genres,mainly focusing on the wielding of Minimalism in poster design,and also analyzing representative posters of Minimalism home and abroad.Based on this,we tend to dig Minimalism deeper,conduct posters drawing lessons from Minimalism style and techniques,for bringing about meaningful reference to further design,and inspire more solutions and ideas of design.Such design feature of simplifying complexity into simplicity conforms to the trajectory of social development and human aesthetic improvement.Under the background of rapid development of high and new technology,Minimalism design style is receiving more and more popularity.
