This translation report takes the translation practice of Sustainable Construction:Green Building Design and Delivery,a sci-tec and architectural text as the foundation.Covering many subjects,such as architecture,engineering and construction,the source text is undoubtedly a valuable reference for architectural professionals.Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to study and analyze this text.The translator summarizes the linguistic and textual features,and illustrates the translation methods and strategies from the difficulty points appeared in translation practice.The main problem found in translation is how to reconstruct the text coherence in order to ensure the clarity of expression.Architectural information texts are featured by complicated sentence patterns and numerous technical terms.Textual cohesion and coherence restrict mutually and both of them are closely bound up with other aspects,so that there is a close relationship between them.The paper probes into the text coherence of the source at three levels,namely,semantic,grammatical and stylistic level,analyzing the cohesive devices and logic progressing.The translator mainly adopts the methods of transforming cohesion,changing cohesion content,explicitation or implication and changing sentence pattern to reconstruct the coherence of the target text.After this translation practice,the translator has learned and mastered the related translation strategies and the methods of reconstructing coherence in the architectural text.It is desired that some valuable suggestions can be provided to this kind of translation and support for the professional research in the related fields.
