This simulated consecutive interpreting practice is based on a lecture with the theme of love and romanticism given by British contemporary writer Alan de Botton at the Sydney Opera House in Australia,in March 2017.This lecture covers a wide range of topics with clear contents and structure. The language of this lecture is distinct, logical and closely linked. Some parts are lack of coherence with ambiguous expression and reference. Therefore, the problem of cohesive devices is particularly prominent in interpreting thus it becomes the focus of this report. The cohesive devices in the lecture are mainly divided into three types including substitution, omission and conjunction. As for substitution, strategies such as explicitation and omission are applied;strategies of addition and sentence reconstruction are mainly used for omission;and strategies of omission as well as implicition could be applied for conjunction. This practice report can provide reference for interpretation strategies of cohesive devices and similar practices of other interpreters,so as to help them optimize interpretation cohesive and improve the quality of interpretation.
