Promoting Future Time Perspective Of Junior School Students

Future time perspective has defined as an ability to integrate past,present,and future in mental which expecting one's future based on current life.Future Time Perspective is a dynamic cognitive-motivation structure for human beings,it could divide in 4 dimensions including Extension,Speed,Connectedness and Valence.According to the aims,researchers build structured diary and ensure training standards,then researcher offer and collect the diaries following particular time.Structured learning diaries has been used in educational psychology for a long time.It could be a instrument to train students on time management,goals setting and motivations.But structured diaries may reduce learning motivation when it was used alone.Group cooperation requests students in groups to accomplished the common goals.Students build social experience and increase their study motivation when they learning in groups.This article adopted structured learning diaries with group cooperation to enhance junior student's Future time perspective.The participants are 83 students from one junior school in Changchun.Using structured diaries base on group cooperation in 8 weeks.To control additional variables,teachers and class progress of two classes were consistent.The structured diary was composed according to the four dimensions of future time perspective and up-dated during the intervention by weekly.The experimental group was trained by structured diary with group cooperation,and the control groups was trained by structured diary alone.There is a significant promotion on future time perspective in experimental groups,and no significant enhance in control group.The result provides that 3 dimensions including Speed,Connectedness and Valence of future time perspective could be enhanced by structured diary with group cooperation.And there was no significant on Extension dimension.
