A Group Intervention On Future Work Self-salience Of University Students

Today's severe job-seeking environment requires college students to explore their careers more actively.Research shows that individuals need to continue to engage in effective active career behavior in order to find a satisfactory career in all aspects and achieve a relatively stable employment.Individuals have a clear future work self has an important impact on career development behavior rand also is the basis for the formation of long-term active professional behavior,not only to promote individuals tend to engage in positive professional behavior,but also more likely to affect their future for a period of time.This study hopes that through the perspective of future work self-clarity,with the help of the characteristics and methods of team counseling,to improve college students'career exploration behavior to provide new ideas.Based on the research of future work self-salience and career development behavior,18 junior college students with unclear future work self-salience were selected by using the future work self-salience scale.Eighteen subjects were divided into two groups,9 in experimental group and 9 in control group.The experimental group received the intervention of future work self-definition,while the control group did not receive any intervention.By means of questionnaire,group feedback and interview,the subjects in the experimental group and the control group were pre-tested with questionnaire,and the intervention of self-definition of future work was carried out in the experimental group one month later.After all the interventions were completed,the experimental group and the control group were tested again.The control group was only tested before and after the questionnaire,without any intervention.At the same time,a long-term test was conducted on the members of the experimental group half a month after the end of the group to assess the maintenance and development of self-definition group intervention in future work.The results of quantitative analysis show that:(1)The self-definition of college students' future work is significant before and after the intervention,especially "this future is easy to imagine for me" and " I know very well who I want to be and what kind of person I want to be in the future work" have been significantly improved;There was no significant change in the control group.(2)After intervention,the career exploration behavior of the experimental group was significant in total score,self-dimension and environment dimension before and after intervention;There was no significant change in the control group.(3)The intervention effect of future work self-salience was stable within half a month.The qualitative analysis results showed that:(1)The team members thought that the future work self-salience intervention made them feel interesting and vivid,promoting the good atmosphere of the group,recognizing themselves more clearly,clearing their future work self,etc.;The group intervention can be summarized as:to have a clearer understanding of the future work self-salience and a better planning of the future work self;Team members' suggestions for group intervention are to shorten group counseling time and hope to have more activities on how to plan future work self.(2)The team members expressed satisfaction with the overall situation of homework content,homework help themselves better understand their ideal self,through the comparison of the present self,make it more actively for career exploration,cognitive into behavior.The following conclusions can be drawn from the study:(1)The intervention of future work self-salience can effectively improve the level of future work self-salience of college students.(2)The intervention of future work self-salience can significantly promote college students' career development behavior.(2)The intervention effect of future work self-salience has a certain degree of stability.
