The Song & Liao dynasties were a prosperous period in the history of the development of tomb murals in China,From the to,There were large-scale amounts of mural tombs were found whether in developed Central Plains due to political and economical aspects or the northeast region of China where the Qidan aristocrats gathered in history.With the complex shape,exquisite murals,abundant subject,These mural tombs provide abundant image materials for the search of murals in ancient tombs in China.Among them,the image of the tomb owner is a very special subject matter in the murals of the Song Dynasty tomb,and its important research value occupies a very important role in the special research of the murals of the tomb of the Song Dynasty.Firstly,the number and frequency of images of tomb owners in the murals of The Song & Liao dynasties tombs increased sharply.Secondly,the images of tomb owners in the murals of Song Liao Tombs are diverse,the contents include banquet?trip which are based on the traditional themes,and there are some unique content forms such as flower appreciation,chess,women-opening doors,waiting,music and dance,zaju operas,chanting,feasting and so on.Thirdly,the murals of song and Liao dynasties tombs are of great artistic value in spatial composition,character modeling,line drawing and color rendering etc.So far,57 historical remains have been found which are related to mural images of tomb owner in Song Liao dynasties tombs,mainly distributed in 11 provinces and regions,such as Shanxi,Henan,Hebei,Inner Mongolia,Beijing,Liaoning,Jilin etc.Judging from the murals details,the tendency characteristics show the tomb owners are much more ordinary people,and the owners of tombs are mostly landlords,merchants etc.Most of the images of the tomb owners appear on the murals of the tombs in the form of a couple sated with a table and two chairs.The major murals form is painting,and brick carving is auxiliary.As far as space composition is concerned,influenced by the residence architecture and living etiquette of Han and Qidan nationality,the tomb frescoes of Song Dynasty mostly adopted symmetrical idolatry composition,while Liao adopted the plot composition of asymmetric style.All of these the images themes mainly related to standby waiter & waitress,dance accompanied by music,long life and immortality are still a form of the rebirth belief of tomb owners.The theme of chanting reflects the infiltration of Buddhist thought in folk belief in Song and Liao dynasties.At the same time,the image forms such as Kaifang banquet and women-opening doors also reflect the ideal family model and orthodox moral standard which are deeply influenced by Confucianism in Song and Liao dynasties.Therefore,religious belief such as Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism were throughout the image of the owner of Song Liao mural tomb,and these factors also greatly enriched the image content and expression form of the tomb murals of Song Dynasty.The images of these rich tomb owners in the Song and Liao dynasties were deliberately arranged according to the real life atmosphere of these Confucianism,Buddhism,Taoism and religion,and together constituted another prosperous world of the tomb owners underground Huang Quan after their death.
