A Study On The Europeanization Language Of Eileen Chang's Vernacular Novels

Eileen Chang is an influential writer with distinctive personal style in the history of modern Chinese literature.Europeanization of Chinese occurs in vocabulary,morphology and syntax in her vernacular novel works,which enhances the epochal style and modern charm of her works and becomes a linguistic feature of her works.This paper takes the Europeanized Language Phenomenon in Eileen Chang's vernacular novels as the research object,carries out text analysis on the basis of previous studies,investigates the Europeanized Language Phenomenon and draws a series of conclusions.This paper is divided into five parts.The introduction of this paper mainly starts with the research content,research status,research methods,source of corpus and corpus selection,summarizes the existing research results,and points out the significance of Eileen Chang's literary language research in linguistics.On this basis,the paper unfolds the research idea of the Europeanization of Eileen Chang's vernacular novel language.The first chapter studies the external environmental influence and self-causes of the formation of the phenomenon of language Europeanization in Eileen Chang's vernacular novels,and clarifies the concept of Europeanization.The first chapter studies the external causes from the historical background,social environment,social ethos,language environment and literary creation environment of her increasing language contact.And studying the internal causes from her own origin,growth background and learning experience.A questionnaire about Europeanized Chinese constructions and the Europeanization of Eileen Chang's vernacular novel language was made and the results were summarized.Chapter two investigates the Europeanization of Eileen Chang's vernacular novels from the vocabulary and morphology aspects.The Europeanization of vocabulary and morphology include the use of more foreign new words,the use of more Europeanized affixes,the change of part of speech,and the Europeanization new use of functional words.Chapter three investigates the Europeanization of syntax in Eileen Chang's vernacular novels.The change of word order,the frequent use of prepositions and conjunctions,the prominent emphasis of the subject,the increase of the structure of "Yes + adjective",the expansion of the scope of passive sentences,the extension of sentences,the increase of the use in succession of “? + quantifier”,and the situations of using more dashes,etc.Chapter Four elaborates the enlightenment of Europeanization in Eileen Chang's vernacular novel works on Chinese standardization and its influence on the work itself,Europeanization of Chinese and the preservation of Chinese nationalization characteristics.The conclusion part mainly summarizes the main research contents and viewpoints of this paper,briefly summarizes the situation of Europeanization of Eileen Chang's vernacular novel language,and seriously reflects on the shortcomings and regrets of this study.
