Based on the book "The Virtue of selfishness",this paper analyzes and interprets the content of the text of the works,so as to study and evaluate the ethical thought of Ann Rand.As the founder of "reasonable egoism",Ann Rand's thought has certain influence in the United States. This work is the late Ann Rand works, but also her representative works. Its ethical thought has the characteristics of "extreme",emphasizing that "selfishness is a kind of virtue",this kind of statement has caused a great controversy in the United States. For the study of Ann Rand's ethical thought,we should first understand the background and theoretical origin of its growth.Ann Rand's growth experience laid the foundation for the formation of his thought, and as a Russian Jew,the unfair treatment suffered in Russia set the stage for the "extreme" of his thought, while the theoretical source of the formation of his ethical thought was mainly composed of Aristotle,Nietzsche and American individualism. As a masterpiece of Ann Rand, the text content of "selfish virtue" is the focus of the research and analysis of this paper. In making a statement about selfishness, the book defines "selfishness" as a kind of "good moral character",which is different from the definition of "selfishness" in traditional philosophy. The author demonstrates and analyzes the text from three aspects of "the composition and cause of selfishness","the definition of selfishness" and "the essence of selfishness".In the "Reason" part,Ann Rand understands it as "the only way people exist",therefore, the author interprets the nature of its rationality, and rational self-interest,as well as its definition of six virtues;in the interpretation of "life",Ann Rand believes that its "rationality" and selfishness are from life as a starting point, the author is also "selfish","rational","Life"Summed up the logical relationship between the three."Selfish virtue" has a great controversy in the United States, although Ann Rand has created "reasonable egoism" and contributed to the theory of ethics, but its theory also has many shortcomings, such as it is this extreme thought that separates people from society and divides the relationship between people, although there are shortcomings, but Ann Rand's ethical thought also has certain enlightenment to our country's social moral construction.
