The teaching goal of college English is to cultivate students' comprehensive ability.So in recent years,studies on oral English obstacles have become popular.But there are relatively few literatures of oral English obstacles of ethnic minorities,especially non-English major Mongolian students.However,with the implementation of the national policy “Belt and Road”,the demand for English talents in minority areas has increased greatly.Therefore,it is necessary to study non-English major Mongolian students' oral English obstacles,and put forward effective suggestions.Based on Krashen's input hypothesis,Swain's output hypothesis,the theory of lexical chunks of Nattinger and Decarrico.The study adopts questionnaire,classroom observation and interview,in order to investigate the oral English obstacles of non-English major Mongolian college students.And the subjects are 292 non-English major Mongolian college students from Inner Mongolia Normal University.There are two research questions,(1)At present,what are the specific aspects of the oral English obstacles of non-English major Mongolian college students ?(2)What are the reasons of non-English major Mongolian college students' oral English obstacles ? In this study,SPSS 23.0 software was used to analyze the collected data.First of all,according to the descriptive statistic to analyze the data of questionnaire and calculate the means and standard deviation,so as to find out the types of oral English obstacles of non-English major Mongolian college students.And then,discussed the results of classroom observation,questionnaire and interview in order to find out the factors that affect the oral English obstacles for non-English major Mongolian college students.The research findings were as follows: there are two kinds of oral English obstacles for non-English major Mongolian college students:language obstacles(pronunciation and intonation obstacles,grammar obstacles and vocabulary obstacles)and non-language obstacles(learning method and habit obstacles,psychological obstacles,environmental obstacles and cultural obstacles).The reasons for non-English major Mongolian college students' oral English obstacles include two aspects:subjective reasons and objective reasons.Subjective reasons include students' own anxiety,vanity,timidity and other bad psychological factors,lack of existing knowledge,bad learning methods and habits.Objective reasons include lack of cultural background knowledge,mother tongue interference,lack of real language environment and the influence of teachers' factors.According to the results of this study,the author puts forward some useful suggestions.As for the language obstacles of non-English major Mongolian college students,they should strengthen their basic language knowledge.Especially vocabulary,grammar,pronunciation and intonation.As for the non-language obstacles,First of all,teachers and students should pay attention to the role of mother tongue in the language transfer for the Mongolian students in learning English.Give full play to the role of the mother tongue(Mongolian)to help students acquire the English.In the classroom teaching,constantly into the national culture,to increase students' native language culture awareness,stimulate students' interest in oral English learning,improve students' oral English learning motivation.The school should try their best to create a good language environment,add interesting elective spoken language courses and strictly control the class size.Finally,teachers should try to improve their teaching ability and pay attention to the impact of students' emotional factors on oral English learning.
