Textbooks are the important teaching resource in English teaching.The textbook is not only the key to the implementation of the New English Curriculum Standard,but also the main basis for teachers to carry out various teaching activities.It is the main tool for teachers to complete the teaching content and teaching objectives.Choosing and using the right materials is a prerequisite for completing the teaching content and achieving the teaching objectives.The textbook New Senior English for China published by People Education Press has not been comprehensively analyzed and investigated about the use of the textbook and the needs of the users of the textbook for more than ten years.Based on the research theories and results of English textbook evaluation at home and abroad,this study uses the literature method and questionnaire survey method,with reference to the New English Curriculum Standard and seven aspects of internal evaluation theory in Cheng Xiaotang's systematic evaluation,including teaching guidance and teaching methods,structural arrangement,knowledge about language,language skills,selection and arrangement of textbook content,textbook content and other aspects of the evaluation of the New Senior English for China(referred to as NSEFC)textbooks.The external evaluation mainly through the questionnaire survey of teachers and students who have used NSEFC teaching materials,using SPSS for data analysis,researching the use of teaching materials in high school English teaching,so as to better understand the actual use of English textbooks for high school students.Problems exist and recommendations are made to enable teachers and students to better use the material.The main research questions in this study are:1.Does the NSEFC textbook meet the New English Curriculum Standard?2.Does the NSEFC teaching material meet the practical needs of teachers in high school English teaching and the learning needs of students?To be concluded,after an overall evaluating and analyzing on NSEC,this study finds that NSEC can basically meet the requirements stipulated by NECS and also basically meet the actual needs of teachers~'teaching and students~'learning,most of whom like using NSEC.However,NSEFC does not contain enough communicative activities for students.Some reading materials are out of date and not related closely to students~'daily life.There are not enough phonetics activities in NSEFC.
