The new curriculum reform emphasizes the transition from unified standard education to differentiated education because each student is unique and independent.At present,the goal of education and training must reflect the requirements of the times,so that students have the basic knowledge,basic skills and methods to adapt to lifelong learning,and become a new generation with ideals,ethics,culture,discipline and comprehensive development.The traditional unified teaching materials and the outline of the one-size-fits-all approach have not been able to meet the needs of students' learning needs in accordance with their aptitude.The purpose of this study is to implement a stratified teaching to see students' attitudes towards it and if students' interest in English learning,self-confidence,and their English scores are improved.Based on the data,some appropriate suggestions for stratified teaching are proposed.This study uses the theory of constructivism,the theory of zone of proximal development and the theory of self-efficacy as the theoretical basis.And the author used experimental research and interview research methods as research tools.An English-level teaching experiment was conducted in Erling High School in Danyang City,Jiangsu Province.Two classes were selected as the experimental class.The content of this paper is as follows:(1)What is students' attitude towards stratified teaching method?(2)Can stratified teaching strengthen students' positive affective states(learning interest,learning motivation and learning confidence)?.If yes,how can they be strengthened?(3)Can stratified teaching improve students' academic achievements? If yes,how can they be improved? In other words,is stratified teaching effective? Through questionnaire survey and interview survey,it is found that most of the students support the stratified teaching,the stratified teaching method can improve students' interest,motivation and self-confidence in learning.Through the test method,it is found that stratified teaching can improve students' academic performance.Based on the research results,in order to improve the application effect of stratified teaching in senior high school English teaching,this paper puts forward some operability suggestions: scientifically classify students' level;cultivate high-quality teachers;reduce teachers' burden;strengthen students' mental health education.
