The first environment that children come into contact with since birth is family. The education, upbringing and care of left-behind children in rural areas are quite different from that of normal families, which leads to a series of psychological problems.Mental health is the key to the quality of our population. With the rapid development of economy, rural labor force is continuously imported into the city, and the number of left-behind children in rural areas is increasing day by day. Therefore, the mental health of left-behind children in rural areas has received widespread social attention. In this study,470 students of grade 5-8 in three central schools in rural areas of Yixian County were selected to conduct a questionnaire survey.449 questionnaires were effectively collected. The present situation of loneliness, coping style and self-harmony of left-behind children and the relationship among them were discussed. The results showed that:(1)Loneliness is prevalent among left-behind children. The loneliness of left-behind children is not affected by gender, grade and whether they are single or not.(2)Left-behind children tend to adopt immature coping styles to solve problems, and are more self-discordant than non-left-behind children.(3)The loneliness of left-behind children in rural areas is positively correlated with self-harmony.The more loneliness they have, the more self-disharmony they have.(4)The loneliness of left-behind children in rural areas is positively correlated with coping styles. The more loneliness they feel, the more immature coping styles they adopt when facing difficulties.(5)Immature coping styles play a mediating role between loneliness and self-harmony.
