The Role Of Interpreter In Interrogation Interpreting

In recent years,with China's economic development and the deepening of the state policy of reform and opening up,more and more foreigners flooding to China.And as a pioneering place of this policy,Guangdong Province,with its fast development pace,has attracted an increasing number of people outside China.Some of them are doing illegal business like drug smuggling,but the investigating departments and the procuratorate need an interpreter due to the language barriers,during the investigation and interrogation process the suspect or the defendant.This report is based on an interpreting practice for Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province.First,this report introduces the background,clients and target audience of the interpreting.Second,the report demonstrates the interpreter's preparation work,including searching background knowledge,collecting terminology and preparing emergency precautions.Then,the author analyzes multiple roles she has played in the interpreting practice process by describing the whole interpreting process,and at last she attaches the feedback from the clients and the interpreter herself.Through presenting and analyzing the cases from the interpreting practice,the author wishes this report could bring benefit to future interrogation interpreting,improve the efficiency of interrogation and the accuracy of interpreting and smoothly switch roles in an effort to facilitating communication.
