Roles Of Interpreter In Interrogation

This report is based on an interpreting practice of the author at Guangzhou Anti-Smuggling Bureau. It aims to analyze the roles of interpreter in the interrogation interpreting.This report starts with describing this interpreting task and introducing the client’s demands and task objectives. Then the author introduces the pre-task preparation, including collecting background information about the case, building up a glossary and doing simulation exercise. Afterwards, the author reviews previous studies on the roles of court interpreter and discusses the author’s observation of the features of this interrogation interpreting, and then the author analyzes her roles,namely conversation co-builder, interrogator and controller.
