Woodblock New Year Print is a popular form in traditional art and painting.Because of its wide variety,bright and beautiful color as well as exact expression,it can be used widely including the old men and children,weddings and funerals.Shen Shu and Yu Lv in the woodblock New Year prints are well known as the source.With the development of the times,the woodblock New Year print has become an important part of the year custom culture in every household apart from the decorative function,.The project decides the research idea and innovation after the research significance and background,the research content,the current research situation at home and abroad are studied.Then the relevant concepts and status of woodblock New Year prints in historical development are described according to the time from the early Qin and Han dynasties to the relatively mature and prosperous Tang,Song,Yuan,Ming,Qing Dynasties,and the current situation need to be saved.Through the illustration of the modeling features of the regional woodblock New Year prints,the visual elements are analyzed from the perspective of the theme.Finally,the regional characteristics of the north and south are summarized,so the general rules are proposed to compare the differences of styles in the southern and northern woodblock New Year prints.The reason behind the appearance of the visual modeling of woodblock New Year prints is the reflection of cultural connotation features and it includes that the hope of praying for wealth and driving out evil spirits from the folk beliefs in the people,the ethical and moral concepts of ritual and enlightenment summarized in a large scale,the development of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,the influence of the concept of "home" in traditional folklore on woodblock New Year prints and the specific awareness of multi-god worship.Finally,the changes and development of the aesthetic concept of woodblock New Year prints are summarized.The author is in Hubei,so this thesis studies the local culture of Hubei.Taking Laohekou woodblock New Year prints as an example,the traceability,current situation,visual characteristics and production process of Laohekou woodblock New Year prints are summarized through the investigation of the existing status and legacy works of the local New Year prints and the interview of Mr.Chen Yiwen as well as the record of the research process.Finally new ideas are created through the design practice.
