A Study On The Unexpected Self-destructive Construction "NP₁+VR+NP₂" In Modern Chinese

The object of the thesis is the unexpected self-destructive construction“NP₁+VR+NP₂”in modern Chinese for example“??????”.Based on the Chinese language facts,we will discuss the syntactic semantic features of this construction from three aspects:internal analysis,contextual function and formation mechanism,and use semantics,text linguistics,cognitive linguistics and other theoretical methods to elucidate.The full text includes five chapters:Chapter One is the introduction.It reviews the relevant research results about the unexpected self-destructive construction.Point out the deficiencies and problems of the existing research.It also introduces the research content,theoretical methods and corpus sources.Chapter Two is the internal analysis of the unexpected self-destructive construction.Based on the construction grammar theory,we name"NP₁+VR+NP₂"expression as“the unexpected self-destructive construction”according to the construction meaning.Secondly,based on the ergative theory,we classify and combine the predicate V and the result R,thus subdivide five concrete types of this construction to explore the internal differences of the construction.Chapter Three is the contextual function of the unexpected self-destructive construction.From the perspective of inter-sentence relations,we investigate the context combined with the actual corpus statistical data,and summarize the textual distribution and textual features of the"NP₁+VR+NP₂"construction.Then we can explains the reason why this sentence pattern has the in-deductible"sentence meaning"from a functional perspective.Chapter Four is the formation mechanism of the unexpected self-destructive construction.Taking“??????”as an example,we research the diachronic process and cognitive mechanism of“NP₁+VR+NP₂”construction from both diachronic and cognitive perspective,using the mental gestalt analogy,semantic association feature,arguments prominent relationship,integration theory and other cognitive semantic theories to analyze.Chapter Five is the conclusion what summarizes the main content,research value,the deficiencies in this paper and the problems to be solved in the subsequent studies.
