A Study On Colloquial Construction "This N V De"

This paper selects the high frequency construction of "zhe(?)NVde(?)”in Chinese spoken language as the research object.Based on the "cognitive-function" grammar,this paper analyzes the pragmatic function of the construction and the characteristics of its internal constituent components"zhe(?)","N",""V","de(?)".The causes and mechanism of its formation are also explored.The six chapters of this paper are as follows:The first chapter is an introduction.We first figure out what is "zhe(?)NVde(?)"construction and why we choose it as the research object.Then the purpose of this paper is explained as that through the analysis of the internal composition,formation mechanism and pragmatic function of the construction,we try to broaden the study of idiom construction.This chapter also introduces the previous research results on this construction and the phrase of"de(?)".Finally,we briefly describe the research methods and sources of the corpus used in this paper.The second chapter is the identification and classification of the construction.First of all,we demonstrate the reasonability of the construction "zhe(?)NVde(?)"by adopting Goldberg's Identification Standard(1995).Then the meaning of the construction "zhe(?)NVde(?)"is analyzed by combining the concrete examples.We divide it into depiction and evaluation classes.Finally,according to whether the complement appears after "zhe(?)NV" or not,we divided the construction of "zhe(?)NVde(?)" into three categories,the complement ellipsis class,the complement implicit class,and the complement translocation class.In the third chapter,the internal components "zhe(?)","N","V","de(?)" are analyzed concretely.First we investigate "N" and "V" from the respect of syllable features and semantic categories,and then analyze the possible different argument relations between "N" and "V" based on the valence theory.The semantic characteristics of "zhe(?)and the asylmetry of "na(?)" are also analyzed.Besides,this chapter also discusses the nature of "de(?)" and its stance-taking function.The fourth chapter summarizes that the tliree pragmatic functions of the construction "zhe(?)NVde(?)" are highlighting focus,expressing a subjective opinion and express one's stance.The result shows that its focus highlighting function is realized through the evaluation and exclamation to the results,impact and content of "V" in the whole construction.The subjective expressing function mainly involves subjectivity and subjective expression functions,and the stance-taking function includes affective stance,epistemic stance and evaluative stance.The fifth chapter deeply analyzes the construction mechanism and evolution process of the construction "zhe(?)NVde(?)" ·We hold that the contextual absorption and conceptual integration are the main mechanisms and causes of the formation of this construction.This chapter also examines the evolution of the construction "zhe(?)NVde(?)",and finds out that there is an inheritance relationship between the construction and "zhe(?)NVde(?)".in the process of inheritance and complement off of "de(?)",the construction "zhe(?)NVde(?)C" gradually evolved into "zhe(?)NVde(?)".On the basis of these findings,we also analyze the discourse marker"n ishuo/kan(??/?)" and its variant "nikan zhe(???)NVde(?)"or "nizhe(??)NVde(?)" relations and their differences.The sixth chapter is the conclusion._We summarize the research process and main conclusions,point out the shortcomings,and put forward the further research prospect.
