Ougan(Citrus suavissima Hort.ex Tanaka)is one of the most famous local specialties in Wenzhou. In the late Qing dynasty,Wenzhou was set up as a treaty port and the government stopped paying tribute to mandarin orange, which gradually became an important local product for Wenzhou's export.Under this background, the transportation and marketing trade of Ougan is becoming increasingly prosperous.Merchants purchase Ougan from farmers and export them to Tianjin and Shanghai. After entering the republic of China, the government vigorously promoted the cooperative movement in 1928 and advocated "production, transportation and marketing cooperation" in the early 1930 s.Consequently, each district builds cooperative of production, carriage and sale in succession.Based on this,Wenzhou Ougan transportation and marketing cooperative was established in 1933.The cooperative changed the original transportation and marketing system to some extent. This paper focuses on the marketing of Ougan from the late Qing dynasty to the republic of China in Wenzhou, investigates the characteristics and evolution of the marketing of Ougan over the past decades, and then puts forward some thoughts on how to recognize and understand this transformation and what influences this transformation has brought about. The implementation of "cooperative transportation and marketing" is not only a change in the role of each group in the original transportation and marketing link, but also has an implicit impact on how cooperative members use the policy to obtain preferential treatment. The difficulties and disputes faced by the Ougan transport and marketing cooperatives, and also reflect the dilemma faced by the Kuomintang government in trying to break the original trading system.
