As the largest Tibetan Buddhism temple in Inner Mongolia at present,Wudang Temple has a history of nearly 270 years.It was well known in the entire Mongolian region,owing to it unique monastic education.Therefore,Wudang Temple was widely attracted a large number of monks and devotees who came from Tibet,Xinjiang,Qinghai,and many other areas to worship and learn.Moreover,it has significant influence in traditional Mongolian education.This thesis take Wudang Temple education as the research object.On the basis of reviewing history of monastic education,and combine the era background with first-hand information conducted by the thorough field investigation,this thesis systematically examines the current situation of Wudang Temple education.Furthermore,the thesis analysis various subjective and objective factors that cause development predicament of lamasery education so as to put forward corresponding countermeasure proposal on how to revitalized the lamasery education development and to adapted to social development.This thesis is divided into three chapters:The first chapter,in the "tracing the origins of Wudang Temple education" part,according to the historical literature,this thesis reviews the establishment and evolution history of Wudang Temple and its educational system which inherited from the four colleges of the gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism.In addition,on the basis of a pectination of Wudang Temple education history,this thesis demonstrates the differences and similarities between Wudang Temple and the gelug sect monastery education system in Qinghai-Tibet through comparative study.Chapter two focus on exploring new changes and characteristics of Wudang Temple education since the reform and opening up.Furthermore,this thesis summarizes the current situation of Wudang Temple education from several aspects: the temple organization system,the education level of lama monks,the temple Buddhist activities and some other aspects.The third chapter discuss about "Wudang Temple education analysis",to start with the historical role that Wudang Temple education had played,and then the plight of Wudang Temple education has been analyzed.in addition,this thesis put forward countermeasure suggestions on how to renaissance Wudang Temple education and to achieve sustainable development to adaptive to socialism with Chinese characteristics.
