The Book of Songs is the first collection of poems in China,which retains a large number of records of production and life in the era of the Book of Songs.The farming poems in the Book of Songs preserve many important agricultural historical materials.This paper focuses on the agricultural ethical concepts and thoughts contained in the Book of Songs.It holds that the era of the Book of Songs is the foundation period for the development of ancient Chinese agricultural ethics,and these thoughts are the key elements of ancient Chinese agricultural ethics.On the basis of previous studies,this paper takes the farming poems in the Book of Songs as the text,excavates the traditional agricultural ethical concepts contained in them from the perspective of the history of agricultural thought,and investigates its agricultural ethics concepts of "Quannong and Zhongnong","Shuntian and Shoushi",“Liangdi and Jinli","Jinxing and Shanhu ",and expounds the influence of traditional agricultural ethics concepts in the Book of Songs on the agricultural thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism in the Pre-Qin Dynasty and the later agricultural books on the basis of presenting the traditional agricultural ethics concepts.In order to explore the inspiration and guiding significance of our traditional agricultural ethics to the contemporary society.Firstly,beginning with the background of the formation of the Book of Songs,through the textual investigation of 305 poems in the Book of Songs,this paper mainly discusses the historical soil of the agricultural ethical concepts of the Book of Songs from the aspects of the natural geographical environment,economic and technological basis and cultural and ideological factors in the era of the Book of Songs.Secondly,through sorting out and discussing the concrete manifestations of agricultural ethics in the Book of Songs,it mainly includes "Quannong and Zhongnong","Shuntian and Shoushi",“Liangdi and Jinli","Jinxing and Shanhu "."Quannong and Zhongnong" means that the state pays special attention to agriculture rather than other industries at the macro-policy level,and will institutionalize the persuasion of agriculture."Shuntian and Shoushi" means that people actively conform to the natural rhythm and follow the rhythm of agricultural time in order to arrange agriculture and life."Liangdi and Jinli" means that people actively conform to the local conditions and soil,actively identify and improve the soil for agricultural production."Jinxing and Shanhu"means cultivating crops according to their physical characteristics,conforming to theircharacteristics,respecting animal nature,caring for animal feelings,and caring for biological growth.So far,the key elements of ancient agricultural ethics in China have roughly formed.Finally,this paper mainly discusses the important influence of agricultural ethics in the Book of Songs on Confucianism and Taoism in Pre-Qin Dynasty and agricultural ethics in later agricultural books.On the basis of carrying forward the traditional agricultural ethics,it analyses the historical mirror significance of agricultural ethics wisdom in the Book of Songs for the construction of contemporary ecological harmonious society and sustainable agriculture.In a word,by the time of the Book of Songs,the key elements of agricultural ethics in ancient China had basically formed,including the emphasis on agriculture at the level of national macro-policy,advising the farmers to take care of the land according to the nature in specific farming activities,maintenance and care,etc.Zhou Dynasty was the founding period of Chinese civilization,and the agricultural ethics in the Book of Songs also played a fundamental role in the agricultural ethics in the historical period of China.
