Farming Poems Of The Book Of Songs And Agriculture Society Of Zhou Dynasty

Being one of the essential classical works of Pre-Qin Dynasty, the Book of Songs had vividly recorded the social life of that period, particularly with the important and abundant records in agricultural activities. This was decided by the unique characteristic of that period when it occurred and handed down. On the basis of the study made by the previous scholars, this paper is presented to make earnest study on the agricultural theme of the Book of Songs, in the vast sense , defining farming songs as poems which was described farming and farming-related religious activities or political activities or daily activities and so on in the Book of Songs. To issue the opinions on the agriculture development and ritual system of Zhou Dynasty and the rational spirit hold by its people by application of agriculture, folklore and history and combination of the achievements in documents and archaeological founding, and finally to offer reasonable demonstration, with the aim to draw the outline of the general picture of the agricultural society of Zhou Dynasty with the best efforts contributed.
