For a long time, strengthening the vertical connection of various sections and disciplines has been the requirement of the national curriculum reform of basic education. The cohesion of English teaching in primary and secondary schools has always been concerned by researchers, and English teaching cohesion has become a big problem troubling English teaching. In recent years, the nine-year-system school has been developing vigorously in our country. It is necessary to pay attention to the research on the cohesion of English teaching in nine-year-system schools to promote the cohesion of English teaching in primary and secondary schools and improve the quality of English teaching. On the basis of previous studies, this paper focuses on the general situation of English learning and teaching in nine-year-system schools,English learning and teaching cohesion in different grades, and English learning and the cohesion of English teaching in primary and secondary schools in different genders. It is hoped that the experience can be used for reference to realize the smooth connection of English teaching in primary and secondary schools, reform the teaching concept of teachers in the stage of English teaching in primary and secondary schools, and improve the quality of English teaching.Firstly, the research achievements of English teaching cohesion in primary and secondary schools at home and abroad are summarized in this study;the core concepts are discussed and defined, and the theoretical basis are discussed,so as to lay the foundation for the research.Secondly, the research design was formulated to clarify the research questions, objects, tools and steps.Taking Xi'an Gaoxin No.2 School as the sample school,120 students from grade 6 and 120 students from grade 7,a total of 240 students, were randomly selected for questionnaire survey.Thirdly, the overall situation of the data is described around the research questions,so as to grasp the overall situation of English learning and teaching connection in primary and secondary schools. The specific description and difference analysis are carried out in different grades and genders, and the discussion is carried out in combination with the research questions. Finally, based on data analysis and discussion, the following research conclusions are drawn:(1)The overall state of English learning and teaching in primary and secondary schools of the nine-year-system schools is good. The overall mean value of learning dimension and teaching dimension are both relatively high, which reflects the natural advantages of the nine-year-system schools in promoting English learning and teaching.(2)There are significant differences in English learning and teaching cohesion between primary and secondary school students in different grades. The differences are reflected in the learning attitude, learning level and learning methods in learning dimension, and students in grade 6 are superior to students in grade 7 in these three aspects;the differences are also reflected in the teaching contents and teaching methods in teaching dimension, but there is no significant difference in the teaching evaluation;which indicates that there are still some problems in English learning and teaching cohesion in primary and secondary schools of different grades. In particular, students in grade 7 show some “inadaptability” in English learning transition period.(3)There is no significant difference in English learning and teaching cohesion between different genders.Aiming at the problems existing in the connection, the author puts forward some suggestions on how to strengthen the connection between English learning and teaching in the nine-year-system school.
