The Curriculum Standards of English for Compulsory Education(2011 edition)sets the English curriculum objectives into five levels,which aims to reflect the learning needs and cognitive features of different ages and also aims to reflect the effective cohesion between primary schools and junior middle schools.Undoubtedly,the establishment of the “General Objective” plays a positive guiding role.In the light of general objective,the Primary and Secondary school English Teaching Steering Committee reviewed and approved the whole teaching materials of compulsory education period strictly and paid much attention to the cohesion of English teaching between primary schools and junior middle schools: three units are arranged in Grade 7's textbook so as to review some vocabulary and teaching content s appearing in primary school stage.On the premise of those two conditions mentioned above,how to realize the effective cohesion between primary schools and junior middle schools is worthy exploring.So,this thesis designs relevant questionnaires to investigate the students' real learning conditions.This thesis centers on the following three issues: 1.What are the problems in the cohesion of English teaching in primary and junior middle schools?2.What impact of these problems have on junior middle school students' learning and teacher's teaching?3.What measures should be taken to realize the effective cohesion between primary schools and junior middle schools?In this study,the questionnaire method is used and the designed questions are mainly related to the following four aspects: the teaching and learning in classroom,the usage of teaching resources,the students' English learning environment and their learning situation and academic evaluation in English learning process.This thesis chooses the schools in Lunjiao Town,Shunde District as respondents and makes integral analysis of cohesion problems of English teaching in those schools and also puts forward the corresponding measures to solve the problems according to the survey results.A total of 430 questionnaires were distributed and 430 valid questionnaires were collected.The recovery rate is 100%.After investigation,it's found that there're the following problems in the cohesion of English teaching in primary and junior middle schools in Lunjiao Town,Shunde District: in the matter of teaching and learning in classroom,because of the increase of the module content in the middle school stage,the students could not master the all contents of the class.Besides this,the reduction of classroom activities leads to the students' lower interest of English learning;In terms of the usage of teaching resources,the number of extracurricular teaching resources obtained by junior middle school students are reduced,and it is difficult to play the help of extracurricular resources to students.In terms of the students' English learning environment,the communication between teachers and students is reduced,and the students have difficulty adapting the new environment and they even don't know how to learn on their own and have no sense of interactive learning.Through analyzing the results of the questionnaire,this thesis puts forward the following solutions: Firstly,the junior middle school teachers should adjust the size of the class and teaching contents according to the students' knowledge structure and language competence,and pay attention to the diversity of teaching methods and classroom activities so as to increase the interest of students' English learning.Secondly,search some information related to the teaching contents so as to enrich students' extracurricular learning contents.Thirdly,the teachers should communicate with students frequently so as to know their physical and mental health conditions in time and guide them to form their own learning method.Fourthly,teachers should adopt diversified and comprehensive evaluation methods and make full use of objective evaluation to promote students' learning initiatives and help them go through the cohesion period from primary school to junior middle school smoothly.
