Based on the oral narrative epic"Mu Jiezhu and Dou Anzhu"of the Qiang nationality, this paper makes theoretical research and practical exploration on the creation of picture books and national picture books."Mu Jiezhu and Dou Anzhu"is one of the representative stories of the Qiang nationality. As an oral narrative epic, its inheritance has been challenged. At present, only a few elderly people can fully narrate this epic.so how to inherit this kind of national epic has become a difficult problem. With the progress of people's life style and the arrival of the era of picture reading, picture books are not only children's books, but also the adaptation of literary works and the birth of private picture books. They have attracted more people's attention and reading. Therefore, the combination of national oral narrative epics with picture book crcation is a good way of inheritance and dissemination. The first part of the story "Mu Jiezhu and Dou Anzhu" describes the Qiang architecture, the environmtent of the Qiang region, the people, the main work, and the meeting of "Mu Jiezhu and Dou Anzhu"in the Karebieke Mountains. The second part describes Dou Anzhu's spirit of perseverance when he decides to seek kinship with God and suffers from God's difficulties. The third part describes the return of the couple's family to Qiang Village, which opens up a new p rosperous scene. The story involves the Qiang people's living environment,so in the early stage of the creation of picture books, field trips are needed to understand the Qiang people's real clothing, architecture, totem worship, environment, breeding and so on.This paper analyses the origin and implication of Qiang elements and sums up the representative elements which arc different from of ther nationalities, such as Qiang blockhouse,Daiwapa, leggings,Yunyun shoes, goat totem.etc.These characteristic elements can highlight the distinctivcness of the Qiang people and integrate the blockhouse, costumce, totem culture and living environment into the drawing book design reasonably.Combining national elements with picture books to form original picture book design with both national and contemporary characteristics can not only promote the inheritance of national culture, but also provide raw materials for original picture books.
