Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s dramatic creation represents the highest achievement of English dramatic art in the 18 th century.He was good at satirizing the way of life and customs of the British aristocratic bourgeois society at that time,which led to the activities of all kinds of relatively opposing characters with typical significance,forming sharp dramatic conflicts.The plot of drama conflict and fluency and playful drama language created by him have become the important factors for the success of his drama creation.From the mythological scheme set up by Sheridan and Mr.Halhead to the birth of Jupiter,Sheridan’s mature works have always had traces of archetypal displacement;SimiTo some extent,Lai’s character is repeated with that of Pew in critics,and the archetypal plot of characters hiding their identity to achieve their purpose has also appeared in the works of Love Enemy,the School of Recreation,accompanied by the critics,and so on.The playwright’s desire to get rid of the capital raging to find an ideal home coincides with the biblical religious belief in the pursuit of paradise,and the mythological archetypes can also be seen in the characters and themes of the play.This is the dynamic transmission,replacement and deformation of mythological archetypes in Sheridan’s dramatic works.The paper is divided into introduction and four parts.The introduction starts with Sheridan’s life,combs the time point of his work creation and the key figures and events related to Sheridan,and the research object of the subject.This paper briefly summarizes the research methods and innovations,and combs the present situation of Sheridan’s research works at home and abroad.The first chapter finds the deep yearning for peace and the vision of moral pursuit of playwright Sheridan through the analysis of the surface pursuit and circular theme of drama.In the second chapter,the archetypes of the characters in Sheridan’s plays capture the typical characters that appear in Sheridan’s works many times.Looking for the corresponding mythological archetypes of these typical characters to find out the influence of the collective unconscious under the increasingly diverse economic activities,the huge gap between the rich and the poor and the similar social and cultural forms on the author’s creation.In the third chapter,the image archetypes in Sheridan’s plays rely on the scattered tips in the works to find the corresponding archetypal images,and analyze the social background of the formation of these images.In the last chapter,in the plot prototype of Sheridan’s play,the conflict between father and son,screen farce and other important plots,such as father-son conflict,screen farce and so on,are carried out.It also analyzes the influence of Sheridan’s plot on Chinese custom comedy.
