This thesis consists of three parts: the source text Intercultural Communication for Global Business(Chapter Five),the English-Chinese translation and the translation report.What is selected by the translator is the book Intercultural Communication for Global Business published by Routledge in 2017.The author,Elizabeth A.Tuleja,immersed in research field of intercultural communication and global leadership.The book contains a large number of relevant theories and case studies on global business intercultural communication,and it aims to emphasize the importance of cross-cultural communication in business communication,so as to guide business people or multinational leaders to learn the corresponding cross-cultural communication skills and achieve the effective business communication.As for the source text Chapter Five,this chapter mainly talks about the cultural dimensions by examining Edward T.Hall’s famous work on the high and low context of communication,poly-chronic and monochronic time,and spatial distance.Combining the analysis of many global companies’ operational cases,the text gives much inspiration to researchers and company leaders in terms of business communication.The translation report is divided into four parts: the first part is to introduce the content of the source text,the author’s writing background,stylistic type and text language features.The second part describes the translation process,mainly are the theoretical framework--Skopos Theory,as well as the pre-translation preparation and post-translation proofreading process.The third part is the case analysis,which is the process that the translator applied the theory to solve words or sentences difficulties in translation with the guidance of “purpose rule”,“coherence rule” and “fidelity rule”.The last part is a summary of the whole translation practice and the translator’s enlightenment for this translation process. |
