In 1993,Mr.Chen Zhongshi's novel White Deer Plain was published.As a witness of Chinese history on the eve of liberation in the late Qing Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty,this epic work profoundly reflects the historical vicissitudes of Guanzhong area and the tragic situation that the characters can not stand on their own in the current of the times under the turbulent background.In 2012,the film White Deer Plain directed by Wang Quan'an brought the literary masterpiece to the big screen for the first time,showing the folklore of Guanzhong area and the emotional entanglement between the main characters In 2017,the TV play White Deer Plain appeared in the public's vision.Its production is excellent and its characters are full of shape.It resounds the spiritual outlook of the local society in Guanzhong areaThe adaptation of White Deer Plain's film and television works is different from other similar types of adaptation works.It highlights the presentation and expression of local culture in Guanzhong's film and television works.The purpose of this paper is to study the characteristics of this presentation and expression,to explore the significance behind adaptation and the reference value it brings to the subsequent film and television adaptation.In the first chapter,starting from the topic selection,the literature research on the adaptation of the film and television works of White Deer Plain is sorted out and summarized,the deficiencies of the research field are found,and the research perspective and innovative points of this paper are expounded.The second chapter elaborates the inheritance of the local culture of the film and television works based on the local culture of Guanzhong in the novel White Deer Plain,discusses the connotation of the local culture of Guanzhong and the classicality of the local culture of Guanzhong presented in White Deer Plain,as well as the inheritance and development of this classicality in the process of adaptation of the film and television works.The third chapter starts with the narrative plot and the characterization,and analyses the understanding and presentation of local culture in Guanzhong in the content selection and expression of film and television works.The fourth chapter uses audio-visual elements to analyze the aesthetic construction of the local scenes in Guanzhong,specifically to vividly restore the folk customs in Guanzhong and to construct the image of the core things,aiming at controlling the original works from both the surface characteristics and the core ideas.The fifth chapter is based on the outlook of the future road of film and television adaptation under the guidance of spirit,affirming the significance and value of the local spirit in the film and television adaptation works of White Deer Plain,and extending the"spirit"for the future development of film and television based on this valueTaking the novel of White Deer Plain and the adapted film and television works as the research object,this paper studies the changes and influences in the process of adapting,explores the significance behind the adaptation and the value of adapting contemporary novels.The demonstration of its success and shortcomings will sum up new successful experiences and failure lessons for the creation of film and television adaptation.Only by absorbing successful experience and keeping in mind the lessons of failure,the film and television adaptation can be able to break through and develop.
