| With the continuous development of translation studies,translation has gradually changed from being linguistically oriented to being culturally oriented.Translation has been viewed as a blend of culture.Translation theorists represented by Susan Bassnett and Andre Lefevere jointly promote the “cultural turn” in translation studies,emphasizing the importance of culture in translation.They think that translation studies should not be limited to translation itself.Instead,they should be considered a cultural development strategy.In their view,translation serves as a means to promote cultural development and communication.With the development of international cultural exchanges,domestic universities and colleges put in a lot of efforts to step up publicity to foreign countries in order to promote international academic and cultural exchange among universities.As one of the important windows of foreign publicity,the quality of English translation of university website news is closely related to the effect of cross-cultural communication,which directly affects the image and reputation of the university.In this report,the translation texts made by the author during her internship in the Tianjin University International Media Center are used as cases in study.From the perspective of “cultural turn”,different strategies can be used in the translation of news headlines,lead,and body.The author analyzes some specific examples of news translation.It is found that related theories of “cultural turn” can be employed in campus news translation,which help enhance the readability of the English version and make it suit the cultural awareness and needs of the target language readers.It is hoped that this thesis can promote the application of related theories of “Cultural Turn” on campus news translation,thus improving the quality of it. |
