A Report On The Translation Of Tianjin University's Website News

This report is based on the author's website news translation practice at the Editorial Office of the Tianjin University's International Media Center.The author selects some of the translated version of the Tianjin University's Chinese website news as examples to explore how to effectively translate Chinese website news under the guidance of Peter Newmark's translation theory and makes a summary of practical translation strategies and techniques.In the light of Peter Newmark's translation theory,the text of Tianjin University's Chinese website news possesses both informative and vocative textual features,therefore communicative translation method can be applied to the translation practice.With the theoretical guidance,it is found that various translation techniques can be adopted,such as literal translation combined with notes and transliteration combined with notes for the Chinese culture-loaded words;paraphrase for Chinese four-character structures,division and re-organization for Chinese run-on sentences;readjustment of words order,integration of information and omission of some discourses.It can be proved that Peter Newmark's communicative translation method can instruct the translator in translating website news with high-quality by means of various translation techniques.This report includes four chapters.The first chapter describes the translation task,including the background information and the introduction of the translation practice task.The second chapter gives an explanation of the translation process.The third chapter analyzes the translation theory and cases.The author first introduces Peter Newmark's theory and then classifies the text type of Tianjin University's Chinese website news and finally makes a detailed analysis of the selected examples on the basis of Newmark's theory.The fourth chapter relates to the conclusion of this report.It is hoped that this report will be a reference for the translation studies in this field.
