An English-Chinese Translation Report On 5G Mobile Network Architecture(An Excerpt)

In the 1980 s,the first generation of mobile communication technology emerged.After only a few decades of development,with the increasing demand of multimedia business,the era calls for more advanced mobile communication technology.Now the forth generation communication technology has been well developed and the fifth is being prepared.Since it is closely related to people's lives,it has received extensive attention.Therefore,as a translator,I hope to make every effort to explore translation skills and strategies suitable for this kind of texts and provide reference for later researchers.This translation report selects the first three chapters from the report “5G Mobile Network Architecture”as the materials for translation and research,which mainly introduces the current research progress of 5G.Guided by Skopos theory,and based on the problems encountered in the translation practice,this report offers corresponding solutions and summarizes the basic translation process of scientific and technological text.It records the process from three aspects: pre-translation preparations,translation analysis and post-translation summary.In terms of theory,Skopos theory is employed as the theoretical guidance to ensure that the analysis of the report is correct and reasonable.The purpose principle,the coherence principle and the fidelity principle are applied to analyze the report from three levels: vocabulary,sentences and tables.In vocabulary,the report mainly focuses on the translation of professional terms and abbreviations.In sentence,the translator gives examples and makes analysis of the translation skills of passive sentence,impersonal sentence and long complex sentence.In addition,the translator also uses Skopos theory to make a brief analysis and a short summary about table translation.Chapter Five summarizes the problems encountered in the translation process,and puts forward some suggestions for future translators.The purpose of this report is to enrich the experience of translation in the field of scientific and technological texts and to promote scientific and technological exchanges between China and other countries in the world.
