In the construction of literary narration for more than 40 years,Jia Pingwa received fruitful results and won numerous awards.His literary eminence among the contemporary writers in China is more dependent on his distinct narrative aesthetic concept,which includes strong senses of social mission,historical responsibility as well as cultural awareness.It is extremely valuable that Jia Pingwa has a sustained pursuit of the narrative construction of local Chinese aesthetics,which is integrated into his literary creation and present a two-way construction of subjectivity between literary narration and aesthetic concept.Taking Jia Pingwa?s “Shangzhou” novels as research objects,the paper is intended to have a liner review of narrative aesthetic concept in these novels,exploring the writer?s ideas of literary creation and his practice.The paper consists of seven parts.Part one is the literature review,in which an overall research situation about Jia Pingwa is made.Scholars have done a lot of researches on his novel creation from various angels.Some take an overall study of his novels;some explore the artistic style and literary characteristics;some interpret his novels from the perspectives of culture,psychology,aesthetics and so on;some have a comparative study.Part two gives a brief summary of Jia Pingwa?s literary creation and gives a division of his literary career.Part three investigates Jia Pingwa?s aesthetic intention of describing the beautiful scenery in his hometown,and summarizes his construction of “Returning to the Native”.His two works Three Stories of Shangzhou and Shangzhou are taken as examples.Part four sums up Jia Pingwa?s aesthetic pursuit,and analyzes his combination of folk life and literary reformation.Turbulence is taken as an example.Part five describes Jia Pingwa?s image-based spiritualized aesthetic concept and his construction of Spirit and Image in his literary creation.Missing the Wolf and Qin Opera are taken as examples.Part six analyzes Jia Pingwa?s aesthetic concept of “writing for conveying truth” and summarizes his rewriting of Chinese traditional culture.Lamp is taken as an example.Part seven is a conclusion,in which a summary is made about the interaction of narrative construction and aesthetic concept in Jia Pingwa?s literary creation.Meanwhile,Jia Pingwa?s literary status is affirmed.
