Discussion On The Artistic Construction Of The Prosperous Scene In "Suzhou's Golden Age"

There are many works in Chinese traditional art to describe luxurious and prosperous scenery and express the theme of prosperity.Academic research is multi-faceted,but the study with the theme of prosperity is relatively few.In the Qing Dynasty,Xu Yang created a long scroll called "Suzhou's Golden Age" with Suzhou as a target.In this paper,in the text analysis of the painting,a view that "A flourishing scene is a kind of artistic construction" is put forward.In addition,it is discussed in detail from the overall grasp to the detailed expression to further dig the significance of the flourishing construction including the political function and aesthetic function of the picture.Through the view,a new analytical perspective and a new interpretation method are created for the picture,which is the purport of the paper.The paper is divided into four chapters.In the first chapter,the image information about "Suzhou's Golden Age" is excavated such as the creative background,the basic information,the creative age,the life of the painter,the circulation and collection.The creative background of the first section of the picture is elaborated mainly from three aspects.Firstly,it is related to the development of agriculture,handicraft industry,commerce and culture at that time.Secondly,it is related to the tradition about the creation of genre paintings since the Song Dynasty.In particular,Emperor Qianlong liked ordering court painters to create genre paintings.Thirdly,it is related to the double identity of Xu Yang as a court painter and Jiangnan literatus.The identity information about the painter of the second section of the picture is mainly excavated from the origin of the life experience,the path of promotion,the court painter,the related works,the field of expertise and the literary accomplishment.In the third section of the picture,the title,age and season of the picture are studied textually.The descriptive scope and purport of the picture are introduced briefly,and its content characteristics are analyzed.In the fourth section of the picture,the information about the circulation and collection of the picture is excavated.In the second chapter,the content of the picture is analyzed.At first,the concept of"construction" is defined and distinguished.Then,the view that "A prosperous scene is a kind of artistic construction" is discussed in the first section.The reason for the view is explained from the name,content presentation and content avoidance of the picture.In the second section,the content of the flourishing construction is discussed,and it is put forward that the expression of prosperous scenery is characterized by "Daily Life Festival".In addition,its definition,reason,characteristics and performance are studied.In the third section,the characteristics of the richness of "things" in the picture are discussed.Firstly,the change of the concept of "things" in the history of thought and philosophy is combed,and then it is combined with history data to illustrate that the economy of Jiangnan was richer than that of the other areas at that time.Next,on the basis of reality,it is summed up that the method of centralized processing is adopted in fact to show the flourishing scene about shops in the picture.The relationship between the method of centralized processing(The presentation of the richness of things)and the construction of prosperous scenery is explained.Finally,the reason,purpose and function of such construction are analyzed.In the third chapter,the expression form of flourishing scenery is analyzed mainly.The use of various artistic means in the picture is characterized by prosperity and orderliness.Therefore,in the first section,some examples are taken to analyze some relationships in the composition form of the picture such as the relationship between subject and object,the relationship between opening and closing,the echo relationship,the relationship between virtuality and reality and the relationship between hiddenness and exposure.In the second section,the artistic technique to construct prosperous scenery is discussed.Some characteristics of the picture are analyzed through screens,such as the fineness of detailed expression,the overall view of scene expression,the centralization of life situation and the visualization of wealth expression.In this section,the picture is compared with the "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" of Zhang Zeduan and Qiu Ying in the Comparative Analysis Method to explain the related problem.In the fourth chapter,after the image text analysis of the previous two chapters,from the perspective of social history,"Suzhou's Golden Age" is further explored,which is the functional exploration and meaning analysis of the picture.In this paper,a view that the utilitarian meaning and the aesthetic significance of the picture are neck-and-neck is put forward.At two levels of the political implication and the aesthetic meaning,the significance of the flourishing construction is analyzed mainly from some aspects such as the function to satisfy the desire of rulers for political success,the function to publicize the local politics and culture,the secularization of the aesthetic interest,the formalization of the aesthetic concept and the aesthetic way,and the synaesthesia effect of the aesthetic psychology.In the part of conclusion,the social problem of the picture found in the process of analyzing the view that "A flourishing scene is a kind of artistic construction" is reflected.By combining the historical document at that time,a construction is drawn as followed.The "flourishing" world constructed in "Suzhou's Golden Age" is not an objective portrayal of social reality at that time.The incorrect prosperity is just a false peace.It is demonstrated mainly from three aspects.Firstly,the festival and material landscape diversity of the daily life resulted from the grand material landscape in the picture are not completely consistent with the social reality at that time.Secondly,the avoidance of the problems existing in the real society at that time is not consistent with the record of the literature history such as the urban defense construction,the official style and the social atmosphere of pursue pleasure in the picture.Thirdly,the contradiction between the Southern Tour of Emperor Qianlong and the people's livelihood is discussed.Finally,the problems and shortcomings of the paper and the expansion of the "prosperous theme" in theory are summarized and prospected briefly.
