The research topic of this thesis is the “Chaconne” BWV 1004 from Bach’s “Six Sonatas and Partitas for Violin solo BWV 1001-1006”.It introduces the composer’s biography and his composition.Furthermore the structure of “Six Sonatas and Partitas for Violin solo BWV 1001-1006” and the status of this work among compositions for the violin are discussed.There is a brief analysis of the overall structure of this work.For comparison and analysis,several editions and recordings are used,with some reference of Bach’s manuscript.The editions used are: Barenreiter Urtext 1958,edition No.BA5116;Schott Music1981,edited by Henryk Szeryng;C.F.Peters 1931,edited by Carl Flesch;Shanghai Art Publishing Company 1979,edited by Ivan Galamian;Henle Edition No.HN356 and Salabert 1915,edited by Lucien Capet.The recordings of four famous violinists are used: Jascha Heifetz;Nathan Milstein;Henryk Szeryng;Itzhak Perlman.Combining own experience as a performer with thorough research of the topic,this thesis shares the author’s views and opinions on interpretation of the “Chaconne”.Through this,it tries to help readers understand and perform this work more effectively.
