This study will focus on the psychological and linguistic aspects of l2 learners' choice and organization of their mother tongue and second foreign language in their communication with others.English belongs to the phonetic alphabet, which was different from the ideographic Chinese characters. There were differences in orthography, phonetics and syntax between the two writing systems.Over time, these differences may lead them to used different cognitive strategies in language production and processing.Over time, learning and using these two languages will lead to different lexical choices and lexical recognition modes for l2 learners. At present,a large number of studies have detected that there was a language switching cost between the processing of ideographic characters and the processing of pinyin characters. The reason for this phenomenon was that there were different cognitive mechanisms,in addition, there were obvious differences in the processing of the two.In this study, the subjects who were learning a second foreign language were combined with language switching paradigm image naming task to further study the above problems.Language switching is an important cornerstone in speech production. However, there were currently few studies in this field. In this study, unbalanced L2 learners whose native language was Chinese and English and whose second language was English were selected as subjects. The technique used the switching picture naming paradigm to examine the different effects of different time interval conditions on the language control processing process.A total of three experiments were conducted in this study, all of which allowed the L2 learners to complete the picture naming task based on the clue prompts and to report aloud what they saw.Among them, experiment 1 adopts the way that prompt clues and stimulating materials were presented at the same time, and does not involve the investigation of time factors. The effect was to compare with other experiments and further verify the research of predecessors. The second experiment was to examine the language switching cost between the prompt clues and the stimulus materials at different time intervals. The short interval was 500 ms and the long interval was 1250 ms.In the third experiment, the cost of language switching between different stimuli and prompt cues was investigated. The response time and correct rate of the subjects were recorded as indicators. The results of Experiment 1 were(1)the reaction time of the test under the switching condition was significantly greater than that under the non-switching condition.(2)The response of the subjects using L2 to complete the task was significantly greater than when the response was completed using L1.(3)Subjects produced asymmetric switching costs in the switching project; The results of experiment 2 were(1)the response of the subjects under the short time interval was significantly slower than that of the long interval conditions.(2)The reaction time of the subjects under the switching project was significantly faster than that of the non-switching project.(3)The response time of the participants in English was significantly greater than that in Chinese.(4)The participants produced an asymmetric switching cost in the switching project, especially under short time interval conditions; The results of Experiment 3 were(1)the reaction of the test under the conditions of short time interval was significantly slower than that of the short time interval condition.(2)The reaction time of the subjects under the switching project was significantly faster than that of the non-switching project.(3)The response time of the participants in English was significantly greater than that in Chinese.(4)The participants produced an asymmetric switching cost in the switching project, especially in the short time and long time interval conditions. The experimental results show that(1)the language control of second language learners under different time conditions supports the inhibitory control model.(2)different CSI and SCI conditions had an impact on the language switching cost, but the impact size was different, showing asymmetry.(3)SCI conditions show the overall and local control of language, while CSI only shows the overall control.(4)both overall control and local control will affect the process of second language learners' code switching.
