The Ministry of Education of China has formulated the “Full-time Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards”,which fully reflects the importance of strengthening students' reading ability.However,the traditional English reading teaching still focuses on problem solving and translation explanation.There is no fixed teaching mode for English extensive reading,but the subjects are carried out according to the corresponding teaching contents,lacking the interest and richness of reading,and lacking the hints and guidance before reading.Moreover,lacking of perfect theoretical system in English extensive reading teaching,students' participation and thinking in reading are low and the purpose of the whole reading process is not strong.The production-oriented approach is a teaching theory based on teaching objectives and a new generation of English teaching theory put forward by Professor Wen Qiufang.It mainly includes teaching concept,teaching hypothesis and teachers as mediators.The teaching concept is mainly divided into learning-centered,learning-using integrated and whole-person education,etc.In order to train high quality talents with all-round development,it turns classroom teaching into classroom teaching pattern of “taking learning as the center” and taking theory knowledge application as the main content.The main content of teaching hypothesis is output-driven,input-enabled and selective-learning hypothesis.The output-driven is aimed at learning at a higher level,which can not only help students enhance their fluency in language,but also test the correctness of learners' teaching assumptions.In recent years,not just the theory study on production-oriented method are growing,but also the experimental study also gradually increased,especially the increase in the number of experimental studies of college English teaching.But the high school English teaching research is not much and high school English reading studies is less,so high school English reading teaching research is of great significance.This paper applies the production-oriented approach to the teaching of English reading.In recent years,in the English reading classroom teaching,most teachers have adopted the traditional reading teaching model,this paper applies the production-oriented approach to English reading teaching.The aim of this paper is to explore whether the POA model can improve the students' reading interest and reading achievement,and also hope that the production-oriented approach can be developed.The purpose of this study is to explore two questions:(1)can the application of “Production-orientedApproach” in reading teaching improve students' interest in reading?(2)can the application of“Production-oriented Approach” in reading teaching improve students' reading performance?This study adopts the method of experimental research,using tests,questionnaires and other research tools,conducted a two-month experimental study on the students of two natural classes in senior high school.The control class adopts the traditional teaching method,and the experimental class adopts the POA teaching method.Through the analysis of the data obtained,the following main findings are obtained:(1)The Production-oriented Approach can improve the students' reading interest.(2)The implementation of the “Production-oriented Approach” in reading teaching can improve the students' reading performance.Through comparative analysis and classroom observation,we can see that students' enthusiasm of production and the enthusiasm of reading are enhanced when teachers' pay attention to the demands of students and can actively guide students' learning,encourage and promote students' positive production.On the other hand,the production-oriented approach divides the teaching objectives into small blocks,which reduces the students' pressure and reduces the difficulty of reading.These results further confirm the practicability of POA theory and provide a new way for English reading teaching in senior high school.
